Dakota & Max

Ah! A Bernese Mountain Dog and a Golden Retriever. Two of the most lovable and cuddliest breeds. This is Dakota (the Bernese) and Max (the Golden), daughter and son to one very lucky man who is getting these images as a surprise Christmas present. Their mom contacted me because she couldn't think of a gift more meaningful than images of their furry pack. I couldn't agree more. We even included their cute human daughter, Avery, in a couple of the shots. Dakota, Max and Avery have basically grown up together as they are all between the ages of 5 and 7.

We secretly arranged the session while the dad was out of town and we got lucky to miss out on rain forecasted for the week. We spent the evening hanging out in the backyard which overlooks the golf course - a good source of entertainment for the dogs. They withstood the heat and relentless mosquitoes and were great models for their dad's new artwork. I hope he enjoys his wonderful and thoughtful present and cherishes these images for years to come.

PS - If you recognize these pups, don't forget to keep it a secret!

Fletcher

I sitting here thinking of what I should write about Fletcher and, honestly, I don't think there are any words that can sum up this guy's happiness and jubilee. Fletcher is blessed with a perma-grin and I think it must be contagious. I smiled the entire session, throughout editing the images and, now, I dare YOU not to crack a grin. This little man is so loved by his parents and he is basically joined at the hip with his dad. It was so touching to hear about their daily routines - getting coffee at the gas station in the morning, visiting with the cashiers and getting cookies, going on car rides, having nice long walks, and their going-to-bed ritual. Thank you so much, Fletcher, for letting me spend a few smiling hours with you! I can't wait to photograph you again once you have grown out your handsome winter coat!

PS - That's Fletcher gracing the top of my new blog!!!

Pepper, Mugsy and Moose

Surviving a plane crash, being diagnosed with MS and turning 40. These aren't things that most people have to deal with on a day-to-day basis. However, my client, Tracy, has dealt with each one of these things over the past few years. A survivor of the Miracle on the Hudson, Tracey has since made a whole life transformation - getting in the best shape of her life and keeping a positive attitude. She has been very lucky to have 4 strong rocks by her side including her husband and 3 rat terriers, Pepper, Mugsy, and Moose. They have been there for her on her not-so-good days of dealing with MS and they were there to greet her when she returned to Charlotte after the horrible crash on the Hudson River. These dogs hold a special place in Tracey's heart and they mean the world to her. Congratulations, Tracey, on your bravery and determination. You are an inspiration. I introduce (from left to right) Moose, Mugsy, and Pepper...

undefinedundefinedMusgy is the middle child and going on strong. He deals with diabetes but stays young by playing with his younger brother, Moose.undefinedundefinedMoose is the baby at only 4 years old. He has the cutest little face with the best smile!undefinedPepper is the oldest and wisest of the pack and is know as the "crazy old lady". She sure did like to ham it up for the camera! She has been dealing with some liver issues so please send positive thoughts her way.undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

You will get to see more of these guys after their studio session! I hope you enjoyed the sneak peek!

Happy Labor Day!

I hope you all enjoyed a long holiday weekend with great family and great food. Here is Sierra enjoying her watermelon (don't worry, she wasn't allowed to eat the rinds)...

Friday, Dally, and Mopsey

What do you get when you combine a gorgeous evening with a beautiful horse farm...oh, and throw some awesome dogs and a horse in the mix? How about an unforgettable pet session with Friday, Dally and Mopsey! I had the pleasure of traveling to Glennair Farm in Lugoff, SC for a wonderful birthday present session for my client's best friend. The BF was a little suspicious when she was kicked out of her own home for a couple hours and drilled my client when she got back to the farm. My client caved in and told her about the photo shoot :) I don't blame her! Especially after seeing how these ladies all acted like professional models!

This is Dally. I couldn't believe how she would model for me. She sat in the most beautiful locations as if she was trying to tell me where to visit around the property.undefinedAnd this is Friday.undefinedundefinedThese two seriously have the best life on this farm. They get to roam and play free without a care in the world. But you know what? With all that freedom, guess where they want to be?

Right by their owner's side.

Love.undefinedundefinedundefinedNext up is Mopsey. Mopsey is a gorgeous 3-month-old horse with her own spunky personality. She is so much like a puppy...just a WHOLE lot bigger.

undefinedShe's a stunner...undefined undefinedAhhhh! That beard and those ears!undefinedAnd both!!!! Love her!undefinedBye for now...undefined

There is no better way to capture the entire session than in your own coffee table album. A little sneak peek ;)

Sadie

Uptown Charlotte is filled with cool and unique areas just begging for photo shoots. Saturday night, we decided to take Sadie out for some location scouting and she had to fill in as a test model. Still very much a puppy, she doesn't quite have her "stay" down pat (of course unless its dinner time) but she did great nonetheless! Here is Sadie at 10 months...

I think Sadie is trying to smile in the image on the right?

Rio - Greenville, SC

Saturday evening, I met with Rio and her new mom! Rio is an adorable Boxer-mix puppy that was recently rescued from the pound in Greenville, SC. Because, up until now, Rio has only seen the worst of Greenville (from behind cage bars), we decided to head out and show her what this awesome city is about! Greenville, SC has the quintessential Southern downtown but with a modern twist. Its a cool, hip area centered around Reedy River Park and is filled with restaurants, bars, shops, and condos almost all converted from old buildings. This downtown is seriously alive! Actually, there were so many people on the streets Saturday night that we had to abandon our original idea of shooting along Main Street. However, we stuck to the outskirts of downtown and still got some great shots that spoke to us about the session's theme...old, new and rebirth.

Theme, you ask? Absolutely! I usually always try to have a theme in the back of my head during a shoot. I just took this one a little further and made it a little more literal. Old - the life at the pound that Rio once had (represented by the old buildings and brick). New - the new life in front of her with her new mom (the new buildings). Rebirth - the actual mental and emotional shift Rio went through after being adopted (the bridge and greenery). Is it cheesy? Maybe. Does it work? Heck yeah! I don't know about you, but I can definitely see the newfound hope and happiness in little Rio's eyes!

She looks super uncomfortable in this frame but I think she's in heaven!undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedI seriously can't take this much cuteness!undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined
