Catching up

Catching up

Wow! This Fall has been a crazy swirl of shoots, reschedules (seriously...over 10 inches of rain in November!!!!), and piles of editing. I've been neglecting the blog as a result, but I promise there is so much goodness I have to share as soon as things settle down.

Last night I had my last private client session of 2015 and thought I'd share one quick edit from that amazing evening...(click on the image above to continue reading)

Graeme

Graeme

So my dream when I die would be to come back as this pup right here. Graeme was adopted from the Humane Society of Charlotte by a seriously sweet couple from England. I imagined him (over the years) picking up on their English accent and using that voice as he ushered me in his house, showed me around his lovely pool, and spoke to me in that way that dogs do. To me, he's so prime and proper but, in reality, he likes to... (click on the image above to continue reading)

Ilsa - Dog Portraits

Ilsa. I almost cried when I met her. I had a flash-forward about 9 years and saw my Eva in her eyes. They look identical to the point it shocked me. However, Ilsa is still a gorgeous girl at fourteen-and-a-half years young! She is a tough lady once named the "Most Hyper Dog Ever Seen" by a local veterinarian. She still has her spunk after having 2 knee replacements, cancer on her nose, and arthritis in all of her legs. She was a pleasure to work with and kept me surprised at her love for yummy treats and the energy she still had. I mean, look at this adorable face... I'm so glad the family wanted to join in for some of the pictures! I always encourage my clients to join in and no one ever regrets doing it. Ilsa still has her skills! And she still has her silliness! We packed up the treats and heading to the local park...

Thank you so much for letting my photograph Ilsa. I hope this was a glimpse into what my future will be like with Eva. I would be one lucky girl :)

Dakota & Max

Ah! A Bernese Mountain Dog and a Golden Retriever. Two of the most lovable and cuddliest breeds. This is Dakota (the Bernese) and Max (the Golden), daughter and son to one very lucky man who is getting these images as a surprise Christmas present. Their mom contacted me because she couldn't think of a gift more meaningful than images of their furry pack. I couldn't agree more. We even included their cute human daughter, Avery, in a couple of the shots. Dakota, Max and Avery have basically grown up together as they are all between the ages of 5 and 7.

We secretly arranged the session while the dad was out of town and we got lucky to miss out on rain forecasted for the week. We spent the evening hanging out in the backyard which overlooks the golf course - a good source of entertainment for the dogs. They withstood the heat and relentless mosquitoes and were great models for their dad's new artwork. I hope he enjoys his wonderful and thoughtful present and cherishes these images for years to come.

PS - If you recognize these pups, don't forget to keep it a secret!

"Happy Hour" Sessions

Daylight Savings time is here again and it can only mean two things. 1) I got up waaaaaay too late this morning, and 2) happy hour sessions are back! What is a happy hour session? Well its not really an hour - its a standard length session - just one that takes place after a 9 to 5 work day! Now that the sun goes down later, there is enough time to do pet sessions after normal work hours during the week! Yay! That means Spring is almost here! :)
